Within this statement, I would like to highlight my unique approach to academic learning. My mentality toward education has evolved considerably throughout my educational experience, impacting my career and development planning. During high school, in contrast to most students who are driven to specialize in the subjects at which they excel, I opted to do the opposite – choosing to deliberately stretch and challenge myself by focusing on my weaker areas. Consequently, my attitude towards these more vulnerable subjects changed over time; while some did not enthuse me at first, I subsequently developed a keen interest in many of these fields through diligent studies.
Math stands out as an excellent example. The challenge I set was to excel at Mathematics in achieving higher education. A new, exciting interest in the field became entrenched in my mind as I developed my skill set and expanded my comfort zone. A deepening interest in math subsequently sparked a passion. My interest in computing has not been restricted to my workplace or university. In my spare time, I developed a camera prototype using open source software to operate the camera remotely. Working on many interdisciplinary projects has given me a new perspective on how distinct processes function and how businesses operate. In my last role as a Business Data Scientist at Varian Medical Systems, I used concepts that I initially struggled to grasp daily, collaborating with a diverse, high-performing team to help beat cancer. Juggling a fervent passion for lifelong learning, career, and higher education has taught me how to obtain an optimal work-life balance and plan tasks effectively.
Beyond maths, literature and philosophy are similar fields which have given me an insight into the richness and diversity of life. I firmly believe that my inquisitiveness and the desire to learn and grow have led me to where I am. Exploring life's richness, you'll find me on the water on most warm summer days. After obtaining my motorboat license years ago, I acquired a fifty-year-old wood-crafted boat. Together with a good friend, a carpenter, I began to explore yet another field and started restoring this runabout with passion. To find time to keep myself fit, I have had to develop excellent organization skills, structured working habits, and prioritize what I need to do efficiently and effectively.
Higher education is a bold new journey for some, but I look at it as a continuation of a journey that started many years ago – a journey of positively impacting people, acquiring knowledge, and pursuing my goals of expanding my skill set serving others. I believe my life experiences have molded me into an individual that would succeed as ESADE's alumni (MBA Class of 2022). I plan to use my assets – my knowledge, skills, confidence, and effective collaboration skills-to learn from esteemed faculty, staff, and peers while functioning as a supportive team member. I hope to become a professional with the energy and dedication required to exceed expectations. This aspiration is what will propel me forward with a sense of enthusiasm and conviction, translating into the formation of a competent and skilled professional. I am eagerly looking forward to the new everyday challenges that life will bring me, and always be blessed with good health!
I look forward to a united future!
